Dulse is the most popular seaweed, it can be eaten as a snack or used in many dishes for its salty flavor.
Here is what you will need to make our Gorgeous Dulse Cheese Scones:
Ingredients:
40g of Dillisk/Dulse, shredded and toasted
Oil ,for frying
2 Garlic cloves
450g of Plain four
1 Tablespoon baking powder
Pepper , to season
85g of butter, softened
225ml of Milk
1 Egg, Beaten
85g of Strong Chedder Cheese
25g of Smoked or Chedder cheese , for sprinkling
Method:
- Preheat your oven to 220 degrees or gas mark 6
- Shred the Dillisk and place on a baking try to toast in the oven for 10-15 minutes
- Place 450g of flower, Tablespoon of baking powder and pepper in a mixing bowl
- Add your 85g of softened butter and then using your hands rub the butter into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs
- Once your Dillisk is toasted add it to a pan with garlic and fry for 5 minutes and then add to dry ingredients
- Create a well in your mixing bowl adding your egg and 225ml of milk
- Once mixture is combined add your 85g of cheese
- Place mixture onto a flowered surface and knead
- Flatten dough until it is an even thickness
- Using your scone cutter to carve out your scones and place on a baking tray
- Brush with Eggwash and add cheese on top before placing in the oven for 12 minutes
- Remove when golden brown and let cool, serve with butter
